Having worked for a railway company for 10 years, I've never really considered myself as coming from a Railway family. Indeed no where have I found the railway's mentioned in any of my own family research.
Searching through old Railway Employment papers 1833 - 1963 on Ancestry.com I discovered only 7 mentions of Brougham - confirming that the Broughams are far from a railway family.
Does anyone know these railway men I wonder?
W Brougham worked at Six-Pit Junction in the Coaching department sometime between 1871 - 1879 at the Midland Railway Company.
William Rutherfield Brougham born about 1856 Worked at Woodhead Station (Sheffield area) for the Manchester, Sheffield and Lincolnshire Company around 1880.
George Brougham, born 2 Oct 1861, worked for the London and North Western as a Grinder in 1896
H Brougham, born about 1866, worked for the Manchester, Sheffield and Lincolnshire Company, based at Ardwick Station, 1891.
Edward William Brougham, born about 1867, worked for the Manchester, Sheffield and Lincolnshire at Rugby Station, 1899
Cecil Wilfrid Brougham, born about 1888, was working for the London and South Western in May 1906
J Brougham, was working for the London and North Western on 24 Jan 1917.
There was a Punch cartoon that ridiculed Lord Brougham following a letter he wrote describing how he felt. They did a famous cartoon.
